Don’t Be Afraid of Dying!

Easier said than done, for most of us…
The fear of the End, the irreversible step into the shadows scares members of the human race since the Creation.
Through the centuries, the subjects of death and dying were a forbidden zone for some, a tool used to control the masses and an intriguing subject of research for others. All depend where you stand spiritually. The common trait is that we all tend to push the issue of death and dying away from the present; and only when faced with a terminal illness or a tragic accident that either threaten us or somebody we know, the feeling arises that “something” has to be done to deal with “it”. As we grow older, the confronting thought of our own death approaching appears more often.

Seeing off our ageing friends and relatives becomes more frequent, leaving a mark on our set of beliefs and the way we see the life. We mature, and form a new existential paradigm that now includes “positioning for the end”. Different religions vary in their attitude to dying and death. In general though, the gate to a new life, or after life, is promised to the followers of all main religions. For those who obeyed the rules and carried their faith right to the end,  an eternal salvation awaits.

For the rest, various degrees of punishment are in store, with going to hell with no return possible, being the most severe. Strict versions of religions with their religiosity occupy one position, with Buddhism – related religions taking the opposite, more lenient stand. Adding karmic footprint to the mix doesn’t make interpreting of one’s afterlife much easier; there are many dos and don’ts that eliminate any chances of guessing correctly where one is “going” virtually impossible. So, why shouldn’t one be afraid of dying? Because irrespectively of what you think and how you feel about it, it’s going to happen anyway. However, beginning from now, you can position yourself to secure an “optimal” pass, when you pass away…
