Spirituality and You – Find Your True Origin!

Have you ever paused to think where did you come from? What is your true origin? All humankind, even the most ardent skeptics amongst us, would have to originate from a singular source. Why? Suffice to say; “by design” we are all the same. It doesn’t matter if you are pro-evolution, or belong to the creationist’s camp. From the “scientific” perspective, what makes us similar is having the body and mind. What makes us different is the role we allow our mind to play. A simple measure of this is one’s spirituality. On one end of the scale there will be those who credit the mind with being the essence of one’s existence and the source of “I”. The other end being the domain of those who are happy to disown their mind entirely, and rely on the supernatural as the source of their beingness.

The first group entrusts the mind with running their earthly show, and maintains a degree of ignorance strong enough to push the questions of death and afterlife away from their stream of daily thoughts. Not surprisingly, this attitude is frequently challenged by the adverse life circumstances, “unexplainable events”  or even by the mature age’s propensity for a less risky and more defined path; leading to the inner peace and solitude. Those in the second group have a great head start here, for they already entrusted their lives to the powers unseen, yet so evident; be it in the life of an individual, or on the grand scale of the universe with its boundlessness. Some call the power God, others the Absolute and everything in-between.

Yet the question remains: “Where did you come from?” It truly is amazing how the intrinsic curiosity, the driver of humanity’s growth and “civilization”, is absent in some of the (purportedly) smartest minds, which simply refuse to search for their origins…
And their subscription to the evolution theory where everything “just happens in one, or a sequence of ‘bangs’” in a random way, seems to directly contradict their faith in the superior power of the human mind. Great intelligence coming into life through the entirely accidental, spontaneous process of “mixing molecules in a black box of time”… is their recipe for creation. Try using it in building even the simplest computer, or a shoelace, for that matter. Throw molecules of the random elements from periodic table, add some time, a bit of light and shake vigorously. What will you get? Surely, nothing remotely reminiscent of a shoelace, let alone a sleek PC…

You don’t have to Einstein to realize that the creation theory is simply a “smarter” way to follow, when searching for one’s origin. We all know our parents, but they didn’t create us. Sure, your bodily existence started with your birth; it will end through the process of dying. For the skeptics, that’s it. The “I” is finished! Whilst they see their minds as being good enough to challenge God, they’re evidently resigned to having it gone into oblivion… as a handful of dust. You and I, and all life came from one, universal source. Said Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj: “We are all rays of the Absolute.” Our lives on earth are reflections of these rays – always were, and forever will be. Don’t see yourself as a spark flickering on the background of the unknown. Your true “I” is beyond your mind and body. You’re free from the pain of birth and the fear of dying. Said Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj: “There’s no birth there’s no death, there’s no person. It’s all an illusion.
Stop identifying yourself with that which you are not. Be the ray of the Absolute, not its reflection!
